At the commencement of July 2026, the HQCC delegation comprising the Country Director Shahid and the National Project Manager Shaleem conducted a field visit to Francisabad, Gujranwala. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the viability and community need for the establishment of a new vocational Sewing Centre.

Francisabad is a locality within Gujranwala city predominantly inhabited by daily wage earners. A significant socio-economic challenge observed in the area is that female students generally discontinue formal education after Grade 10, largely due to the absence of accessible higher education or marketable vocational skills, thereby limiting their future employment prospects and economic independence.

During the visit, the team engaged with local residents, students, and community stakeholders. The response from young girls was overwhelmingly positive. They expressed considerable enthusiasm for the proposed initiative and demonstrated a keen interest in acquiring sewing skills within a safe and supportive learning environment.

The prospective tutor for the centre, Ms. Hina, conveyed optimism regarding the potential impact of the program. She affirmed that girls from this community stand to gain substantial benefit from skill-based training, which would equip them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Following the on-site assessment, the Country Director and National Project Manager convened a meeting with Director Rev. Shahnawaz Javed to present their findings and recommendations. Upon review of the community’s needs and the demonstrated demand, the Director granted formal approval for the establishment of the Sewing Centre in Francisabad.

Pursuant to this approval, HQCC officially inaugurated the Sewing Centre on 4 July 2026.

The inauguration was marked by widespread enthusiasm among the local populace, particularly among parents who expressed gratitude that their daughters would now have access to practical skill development in a nurturing and conducive environment.

The proceedings commenced with an opening prayer for the success and sustainability of the centre. Subsequently, the National Project Manager addressed the gathering and provided an overview of HQCC’s ongoing initiatives across various regions of the country, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to community upliftment through education and vocational training.

To commemorate the occasion, refreshments were arranged by HQCC for all attendees.

The local community conveyed profound appreciation to HQCC for this timely and impactful intervention. Residents acknowledged that the Sewing Centre represents a significant step toward empowering young women with self-reliance and economic resilience.
